News

US release date announced: April 19

IFC Films will premiere ERRORS April 19 in limited theatrical release and on VOD under its IFC Midnight banner.

Review: Screen Daily

“Eklund is likely to be in line for more leads after this, while Lemarquis – who has the pop-eyed, grinning, bald look of Peter Lorre inMad Love – might find himself on call for Euro-villain roles.  Sheean is clearly a talent to watch.”

Review: Scott Weinberg, FEARnet

Calm and collected in the most fascinating fashionErrors of the Human Body is a medical thriller that’s both reminiscent of earlier stories (ones from David Cronenberg or Michael Crichton, perhaps) and astutely unique in its own right. On the surface it’s the story of an American doctor who travels to Hamburg to assist a pair of estranged colleagues who are on to something big in the field of cancer research, but in the layers beneath (and there are several) we have a tense, topical, and fascinating discussion about morality, medicine, the dangers of playing god, the sin of wasting knowledge, the perils of trust, and the necessity of human contact.”

REVIEW – Ain’t it cool

“Sure enough, this unflinching film demands intellectual engagement and integrity from its audience. It is an audacious, delicate, touching step forward for first-time feature director Eron Sheean… it’s an artistic, thoughtful triumph.

REVIEW – Quiet Earth

“Errors is beautifully shot with a frosty palette of whites and greys which provide a clinical precision perfect for the storyline. However, this precision extends well beyond the script to both the acting and editing, and this combination is where this film excels. Thrillers are based on buildup and pacing which in Errors borders on immaculate.”

REVIEW – Fangoria

“Sheean, on the other hand, maintains a cool control over his material… Genre fans will find their investment in the narrative rewarded by a couple of horrific developments in the final act…”

World Premiere – Fantasia

So this is it.

Errors of the Human Body had its world premiere screening in front of a full house at Fantasia International Film Festival. A great screening!!

Fantasia Film Festival describes Errors of the Human Body:

“ERRORS OF THE HUMAN BODY is an unsettling, stylistically bold look at the
personal and ethical horrors of modern genetic engineering, oscillating quite
ambiguously between pure science and terrifying science fiction. Entirely shot
on location at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics
in Germany, Sheean’s feature film debut is a feat of atmospherics and
melancholy… the cut-throat world of scientific progress is nonetheless a merely
stunning backdrop to Sheean’s mesmerizing personal downward spiral — a
cocktail of regret and despair at the centre of which Michael Eklund (THE
DIVIDE) stands tall, silent and damaged. Karoline Herfurth (PERFUME: THE
STORY OF A MURDERER) and Tomas Lemarquis (NOI THE ALBINO) co-
star in what is ultimately one of the most beautifully quiet, contemplative and
profoundly alienating takes on modern scientific progress since Cronenberg’s
CRIMES OF THE FUTURE — an independent film showcasing deep-seated
moral and ethical dilemmas and breathtakingly nihilistic images that will haunt
you long after the final, gut-wrenching truth is revealed through the test tube.”

An interview with director Eron Sheean

“Without any doubt, this production is exactly what we are looking for in today’s science-fiction (in this case even more ‘science’ than ‘fiction’), so we decided to contact the director of Errors of the Human Body, Eron Sheean.”
